If you want to visit an African cultural village, go into Middleburg and then travel 12km on the Groblersdal road (R11), turn left at the Botshabelo sign and you will find the Ndebele village (the houses are painted in bright geometrical colors)

PS. If you are a foreign visitor please note that the tollgate on the N4 does not accept foreign credit cards, only South African rands, most service stations selling petrol, will only accept cash.

If you are coming from Lydenburg over the “Long Tom Pass” when you come down the last hill into Sabie, you will see houses on your left, then our Hillwatering sign and a large sign with a map of the town on it, underneath the sign is a football street post. TURN LEFT. Follow the road for about 100m and then TURN RIGHT into Marula Street (there is another Hillwatering signpost here as well)

Follow the road down the hill and around the corner for about 200m, you will see the Hillwatering sign at 50 Marula St on the left.

If you are coming from another direction (i.e. Hazyview, Graskop etc)  you will have to drive through Sabie and take the R532 road to Mashishing (previously Lydenburg)

As you leave town you will go through a 3-way STOP street, after this, follow the Mashishing road for approx 1 km, passing on your right a CALTEX garage and the  Sabie Country Club and golf course, take the SECOND TURN to your RIGHT (Hillwatering is signposted from here) this crosses a small bridge, about 50m further on TURN RIGHT at the T junction, follow the road up the hill until you come to a 3-way stop street, TURN LEFT into Marula Street and No 50 is about 200m further on, on the right.

Sabie is approx a 4-hour drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria
